This is week will go down as one for the ages, why you ask? Because I have broken my first bone, ever. Well fractured technically, but still it counts! The story is really pathetic, I should tell you that while running my daily 10 mile run through the wilderness of the Utah mountains I was chased by a large mountain lion that attacked me and that I was able to fight it off by giving a swift kick to the face that caused me to fracture one of the bones in my foot, but that would be a lie. Sadly, it went a little bit more like this: one of my dear sweet friends called me needing back up (the guy she likes was coming over and she was nervous), so I quickly raced out the door to offer her my support. When I came to the last step on our porch, I noticed a small, furry creature on the on it, a cat. It was dark so I didn't notice it until my foot was about to hit it so I acted quickly and tried to skip the step. Bad idea. When I came down my foot went under me and I fell and there was instant throbbing pain! Because I'm such a great friend I picked myself up and hobbled to my car because I couldn't leave my girlfriend hanging. When I got to her house I examined the damage and saw my foot was starting to swell, no big deal right? Just a sprained foot or something.
I walked on it all day Tuesday and Wednesday and my mother saw how swollen and bruised it had become and decided we should probably go to the doctor, so we did. I got my first ever non-dental x-rays, it was exciting. Sure enough the Instacare doctor thought it was broken but needed the radiologist to look at x-rays to be sure. The next day I called in, that's when they told me I had fractured my foot and that I should probably go see an orthopedic doctor. So I did. And that brings us to this point. My foot is now in an uber-stylish walking cast boot thingy that I get to wear for two weeks, are you jealous? You should be and just because I'm such a great person I'm going to share with you a few awesome pictures of the "broken foot," please ignore the crappy quality, chipped nail polish and pasty skin.
This is from Wednesday, notice the awesome purple bruising by my toes? Sexy.
The lovely, swollen left foot and the normal right one, I know the picture isn't the greatest but there is a definite difference in size.
And last but not least. My lovely boot. It's the perfect accessory for fall and every girl should have one.
OH NO! That's so scary! I've never broken a bone, and breaking one is one of my worst fears... I have such a low pain tolerance. I'm sorry! I hope you feel better! And I hope it heals quickly!
ReplyDeleteI think I it was the fall before my 21st birthday that I fractured my left foot by missing a step. It must be genetic.
